Review of The Dead Zone (1983) by Lord N — 13 Aug 2010
This film was very interesting. I like Stephen King. I have seen many movies adapted from his writings including Carrie, Misery, The Shining, The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption. As such, I have high expectations when I see a film based on something he has done. Knowing the basic style of Stephen King, I can certainly say, that they got his style down pretty well. Christopher Walken does very well in the lead role and I rather liked his character. The plot is also very interesting. It keeps your attention throughout the film. I must say that. Overall, I would suggest this film to anyone. King fan or no. It's a good suspense film.
TRIVIA TIME: 1. Before his accident, Johnny Smith is an English teacher. Stephen King was also an English teacher before becoming a full-time writer.
2. During the time Michael Kamen was composing the music for the film in London, he would play the score on the piano in his home. He received several complaints by his neighbors who asked, "Can you please stop playing that music? I can't sleep and it's giving my family nightmares.".
