Review of The Dead Undead (2010) by Andrea L — 20 Aug 2011
Why is this concept so diffcult to execute? This is the second film I have seen where zombies fight vamps and the second time ive seen it flounder and fail! Its a silly plot about zombies turning up and spoiling the vampires say with the humans caught in the middle.
So you get the usual "my friends turned into a zombie" affair throughout. Most of the vamps have no fangs as they have filed them down and they cannot bite the zombies for fear of getting infected so they shot them.
a lot. but not in the head that would kill them, but in the belly which should not kill them but none of the buggers ever get up after it! Luke is fun as always ubt the rest of the cast are so so. The vamps have annoying flash backs about how they were turned which pads out the story.
Theres no real gore and all the zombies shot are shown in cgi, not a bullet squib in sight which takes some of the magic away. It could have been pretty fun if we just had vamps ripping up the zombies but its more like army types who have a tendancy to burn in daylight.
you would be hard pressed to know they were vamps. The ending is pretty lame and sets up a sequal which ill probably give a miss. Its more irritating because we a little bigger budget, better story and effets this could have been cheesey fun.
As it stands its a below average affair to say the least.
