Review of The Dead Pool (1988) by Rocknblues 8 — 25 Jun 2006
Clint once again picks up his role as Harry Callahan in this Dirty Harry finale. This time... Harry is trying to bring down a guy that's killing celebs based on a "game" called The Dead Pool... in which people predict the death of a famous person.
Harry then becomes a target when he throws the killers gameplan.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
This is a solid ending to a sometimes entertainting series and sometimes not... Yes, the formula is the same in most ways. And the death scenes in this film resemble of those of a horror movie. Rather uncreative ones ontop of that.
Also, what hurts the film is that Clint has mellowed abit and it shows in this one. It makes his character alot weaker. It's better than Sudden Impact, but worse than the rest of them.
The good things are that you get a really good chase scene and some good one liners in typical Clint fashion. So it feels the need with action and some witty comments... But it's all too watered down for me to suggest going to rent or buy this film. Just wait until it comes on cable tv.
6/10.
