Review of The Dead Pool (1988) by Jeff B — 19 Aug 2008
The fifth and final Dirty Harry film, and to be frank, thank goodness, they're out of ideas. This one was entertaining to watch, but rather than being dull like the third and stupid like the fourth, this one's just plain ordinary.
Like the last two, it has it's problems, mainly the villian kind of comes out of nowhere, and the climax, while entertaining, is lacking compared to the others. There's no build up. It just happens.
Then it ends. Nice commentary on the media in society, however. If there's one thing the Dirty Harry films succeed at, it's social commentary. Decent flick, but Harry should have gotten better.
