Review of The Dead Pool (1988) by Senor C — 06 Nov 2011
By the time the late 80s had rolled around I had figured that we had seen the last of Harry Callahan. A cult icon of the 70s Sudden Impact seemed like more of a fitting swan song but The Dead Pool is still a good movie even if I think it's a little out of place in the series.
Harry seems to have gotten a little soft in his older age but he still shoots a mean .44. Some good stuff here though even though Eastwood could have easily slept walked through the role. I laughed when they assigned Evan Kim as his partner.
You knew he was a dead man. The biggest surprised (mostly because Im not a fan) is Jim Carey in a small role who's is absolutely scene stealing. You can tell he was destined it go on to much bigger things.
Smart to strike while the iron was hot w/ Guns n Roses even giving them a cameo plus Welcome to the Jungle is still a kick ass song.
