Review of The Dead Lands (2014) by Linda H — 17 Sep 2015
This movie is simply brilliant. I don't want to compare Lawrence Makoare to the great Toshiro Mifune, because the two actors are great in their own way. Mr. Makoare brings an intensity to his role as the warrior that reminds me of Mifune. Given the staging, Toa Fraser makes homage to Kurosawa, but without losing the Maori heritage.
I would love to see Glenn Standring give us a Maori interpretation of Shakespere. Please?
