Review of The Dead Girl (2006) by Teneisha N — 20 Nov 2008
I had no idea I would love this movie as much as I did. I expected a vaguely gory murder story, something similar to episodes of Law & Order. This, however, broke my heart; all the characters were so palpable, so sad.
Brittany Murphy continues to reassure herself as a favorite actress of mine. I felt disappointed through the movie, believing we would not be able to watch her act, that she was simply The Dead Girl, the thought of whom recurred through each little story.
But then, the end, there she was, wrapping everything up so completely in an end-to-beginning fashion. You know what is going to happen to her before it does, and as she sits there in the dark, seeming so innocently happy at seeing her daughter, it's just overwhelmingly sad.
Instantly leaped up onto my list of favorite movies.
