I guess independent filmmaker Jim Jarmusch wanted to make a personal version of Night of the Living Dead. Basically it is not bad; the but is that social criticism and black humor lacked a bit of seasoning.
As a Devil's Advocate, it's somewhat better than Army of the Dead.
