Review of The Dead (1987) by Darryl J — 16 Dec 2008
John Huston's final film is one that sincerely loves it's characters. The entire first hour is essentially a prologue to the emotional climax of the film. It leisurely introduces each character and allows them to just "be".
I never felt for a second that they were just props used to tell a story. All the performances are wonderful. Anjelica Huston was pitch perfect. Her monologue at the end is proof. A great little film that has a stunner of an ending.
