Review of The Day the Earth Stopped (2008) by Lee B — 31 Jul 2010
"The Day the Earth Stopped" has one thing going for it. It's better than "Transmorphers"- another bad Asylum production. Outside of that it seems that every film that Asylum makes has C.
Thomas Howell at the helm and its filmed in downtown LA around Little Tokyo. (No not the good side of LT, - but the skid row area.) This time around aliens who pilot robots right out of "Macross" drop to the planet and are going to blow it up unless C.
Thomas Howell (wearing a golf visor that's green making him immediately a military guy) proves to a porn star why humanity is worth letting live. Judd Nelson makes an odd appearance for a few bucks and shows the porn star how to act, but this seemed to suffice to save the day.
The production effects are only a step up from "Transmorphers" but it's such an obvious paste and sitck that you can't help but laugh.
