Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) by Ian D — 01 Nov 2013

It's beautifully shot with stunning visuals and the action scenes are very exciting but with the quality of sci fi movies out lately this one is rather forgettable, you're better off with other sci-fi flicks.

I will say though that Jennifer Conelly is an excellent lead who outshines Keanu Reeves phoned in, dull performances. If The Day the Earth Stood Still had more mystery, better dialogue and a more rapid pace it would be a gripping and recommendable experience, but overall it's a decent serviceable flick which sadly ends with a less than climactic finale, looking back now it's lost the power and awe it had on me when it first came out.
