Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) by Colleen C — 28 Dec 2008
This a classic of science fiction that everyone should see. It is odd how a story and question posed 50 years ago is still relevant today. The characters are very similar to the people that we meet everyday.
I am skeptical that the remake can match up to this one. I am reminded of a line by Hari Seldon (The Foundation Trilogy) that "violence is that last resort of the incompetent" and yet as a society this is so often our very first response to whatever occurs around us.
