Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) by Nikolaj Z — 29 Mar 2009
This is the classic Sci-fi and some great lines from Klaatu (Michael Rennie) like "I'm impatient when I encounter stupidity. My people have learned to live without it." to which Mr Harley replies, "My people haven't. I'm very sorry, I wish it were otherwise.".
Lots of veiled allegory that you have to pay attention for perhaps one reason why the movie keeps getting ref in other scifi.
Also pay attention to Klaatu's final "earth will be a burned out cinder" monologue.
Remake is a travesty!!!
