Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) by Alan D — 14 May 2009
Just like all scifi from the 50's the day the earth stood still has a dark message. stop blowing your selfs up! the moral undertones aside it makes for a fast paced and atmospheric watch, you cant set it aside too much from the other sci fi's from the era, but the effects are good and the music is superb.
michael rennie dosent quite convince you as an alien but gort's there too remind you of the other worldliness. the day the earth stood still is an absolute classic that is hard to put down. even if its Americanized view on things is a little overbearing.
you should all see it.
