Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) by Cade L — 01 Jun 2009
I thought I had reviewed this a while ago. Oops. This is a surprisingly fantastic sci-fi film. I had never seen it before last summer but I had heard the famous quotes and references constantly (being a sci-fi fan).
It's very 1950s of course, but the script and story come through strong--twists, surprises and suspense throughout. I can see why this has become such a classic sci-fi picture. It's not an action movie, or horror movie, but a futuristic philosophy picture: what more can you ask of good sci-fi?
