Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) by Sanity Assassin ! — 19 Aug 2009
This engrossing picture was bold in its statement of peace at a time when war was the constant image on the front of the newspaper. It is no less powerful today, as war comes in many shapes and forms and we have even more weapons and ways of destroying ourselves than ever before; the film's truth is inescapable.
Great genre acting from the entire cast, and though the ending falls a bit flat for me, it is a very important film in the genre of sci-fi, and film overall.
