Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) by Sarge P — 18 Oct 2009
Concrete solid classic! Plus, it has GORT! Suggestedly, THE single most powerful character in any movie, that I have seen, short God I guess, since this robot could destroy the Earth, like a one man Death Star, so.
..there. That's imposing! Great classic. Klaatu, as smoothly played by Michael Rennie, and the rest of the perfect cast, brings a great idea to life. The simplicity of the designs and look of the film, is just amazing to me.
The remake is nothing to this. Nothing. Even after so many years, this movie has punch.
