Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) by Dann L — 23 Mar 2011
Made in 1951 and directed by Robert Wise, this movie is considered a masterpiece of Science Fiction. Michael Rennie plays Klaatu, the visitor from another planet with a warning to the people of the earth.
Written during the McCarthy era, this movie is dripping with paranoia. And the writing is incredible. It touches on the feelings of the day while never losing sight of that fact that the people are all terrified of what they do not understand.
Watch it again, and discover the intricacies of the plot.
