By no merciful and complex provoking ideas has this film been called dated. Maybe the looks are kinda outrageous compared with today's striking visuals, but THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL is by far the most intelligent and real story in a Sci-Fiction film of our era.
Not a film that tries to change the media, but to give a message, to us storytelling as a metaphor for peace, and violence. Only a few films have had the power to deliver such strong emotions for more than 50 years, and this film still as powerful as it was 50 years ago.
What is outrageous is that we don't understand. Great acting and suspenseful and incredible settings, also alarming and perfectly real way of using the world a a single character, One of the greatest films of all time.
