Review of The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) by Ted H — 30 Jul 2012
The best thing i've done was see the remake before the orginal. By doing so it made me appreciate The 1951 version. Both don't begin the sameway with the orginal storyline Kaaltu warns the Earthlings of destruction and bio-chemical war but brings peace.
The remake on the other hand threatens the whole existance of mankind unless they sacrifice 1 of there own. I think what was scary in the 50's (Nuclear war) is no longer are main fear. With the UN and end of the USSR we no longer worry so much about new Age technology and Bio-chemical war.
Instead it's all about the end of all civilizan, created by something more powerful then any Human can imagine or worse prevent.
