Review of The Day of the Triffids (1963) by Matt C — 12 Apr 2009
The initial half hour setup to this film is pretty good stuff and classic B Movie Sci-Fi fare. Plants just aren't scary (see 'The Happening') but the blindness affliction is really well compiled.
Unfortunately some dubious storytelling (they seem to drive from Kent to Paris without encountering the channel) and some overly moralistic ending sequences ruin it a touch. A solid Sunday afternoon lazy film though.
