Review of The Day of the Jackal (1973) by Michael K — 31 Dec 2007
Tense political thriller with more a touch of relevance to today's terrorist ridden times. The race against time of an inflexible bureacracy chasing a single elusive contract killer had significant overtones of the futility arising from the continued 'war on terror'.
The slow cranking up of the tension, sitting alongside the expectation and patriotism of the Paris parade was amongst the best that I've seen.
