Review of The Day of the Jackal (1973) by Sarah S — 01 Mar 2008
The suspense is palpable during the last 20 minutes of the film and the ending...I'm not sure anyone would be able to guess at it. It's also intriguing to wonder about how the cat and mouse game comes to an end given what is learned in the last few moments of the movie.
I understand the storyline with Madame Montpellier was needed to allow the real chase to begin, but it still felt a tad forced with regard to the overall plot. Well worth watching, even with the 2 1/2 hour run time.
..and the Jackal is easily one of the most enthralling film assassins of all time.
