Review of The Day After Tomorrow (2004) by Pauline H — 03 Dec 2013
Roland Emmerich returns to the directors chair with another thriller and world wide destruction, just not like Independence Day type, but of Mother Nature herself. Interesting topic at the time, so how did the master if destruction do with Mother Nature?
The Day After Tomorrow. Mouth full of a title huh? Story starts off with Dennis Quads character and his crew out in Antarctica and the ice shelf rips apart and from there we have our movie. Our Mother Nature of disaster takes us from Japan, to Los Angels, bit in England, and finally New York City where all kinda of trouble happens. Dad seeks for his son to rescue him from this event. Typical story.
But how did the film do as itself? To be honest I rather enjoyed this movie. I like movies about Mother Nature kicking humanities asses, if it's done right. The story to me is very interesting, some parts are kinda slow but when the action scenes starts it's really awesome and done very well, especially close to the end you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it.
Emmerich did a good job with this and the acting was pretty decent. I want to say this is my favorite Roland Emmerich film as of yet, I liked the story and the action was different other than his usual stuff.
