I know why I bought the ticket...destruction. I'm a sucker for disaster films. I love desolate landscapes, cities reduced to hulks, echoes bouncing off rusted metal and broken glass; I like watching nature destroy things, be it by fire or water or air.
THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW was on my must see list from the moment I saw the teaser trailer. The movie delivers the groceries, albeit not in the bulk bag I expected. I've seen better and worse from the same director.
Overall, though, Emmerich serves the meal I expected; good old-fashioned B-Flick annihilation.
