Review of The Darkest Minds (2018) by Jennifer-Rose S — 02 Aug 2018
While the critics are saying this is a "typical" YA dystopia film - and it is - it was better than the tomatometer is reading. The critics need to look past the "typical-ness" of the film and see it for what it really is - a movie about friendship and sacrifice and being special.
My daughter read the books and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. She thought it stayed as true to the books as it could - cut some subplots and toned down the violence a bit - but was still impressed. We are both hoping that the movie does well enough that the trilogy (or at least the 2nd book) can get made.
