Review of The Darkest Hour (2011) by Niki B — 14 Apr 2012
When the film started I was thinking myself 'Another teen flick of those' and then it got an 'alien' twist by the next hour....in the end....'we will rise again'.
Plot, Acting & Music: First of all, my first line sums everything without to much spoilers so for the plot...one star for the effort. It is nothing new and the movie just gives to much CGI effects that even includes amazing sound effects also. About the acting...only one convinced me as always: Emile as Sean. Max as Ben was great but not enough evolution. Same for Olivia, Rachael, Joel and Veronika (who I almost confuse with Emilie de Ravin but thank God I did NOT!). The extras were fine for not saying awful... no they were not awful by the way, just ok. And about the score, the musicians did a nice job but 'Pilot Hill' song 'THE UPRISING' was more emotional than the whole movie. Seriously, emotional and bad ass song.
To end this review, is not good nor bad, is regular. 3 of 5 stars only. It is slow at first but the rythm goes higher and higher thanks to the weird twist. Still, I do not recommend it unless you are in love of 7th Art and love CGI effects like moi. Anyway, enjoy and HASTA LA PROXIMA AMIGOS/AS! AU REVOIR!
