Review of The Dark Tower (2017) by Stephen Y — 18 Aug 2017
I have read the first four books. (Currently rereading book 2). If you ignore the books and treat it as a stand alone movie, it's honestly not bad. If you go in thinking this is going to be like book 1, you will be utterly confused and disappointed...
Ignoring the differences between book Roland (very clearly described like Clint Eastwood) and movie Roland, I liked the cast. Idris was a fantastic Roland. Matthew was a fun Walter and the kid portraying Jake was solid too.
Ignore the critics, ignore the book, and enjoy the movie for what it is. A sci-fi western that will keep you entertained for a very quick 90 minutes.
