If you've finished the books then you would understand that it's perfectly sensible for Roland to be black. Have you seen the poster of the horn with "last time around" on it. This is not a straight adaptation but a whole new adventure.
At first I was thrown off because of his relationship with Odetta and there banter but now I'm excited to see where they go with it. There are so many damn possibilities and as an avid dark tower fan I F'ing stoked!
