As a fan, I was quite satisfied with this movie. The cast and acting were fantastic and authentic. The plot was very very very loosely based on the books (Ka is a wheel though) but for 6.5books condensed into one 90min story I thought the writers/editing did a decent job with getting the major plot points across and developing the characters.
My husband, who hasn't read the series, found the plot easy to follow and enjoyed it as well.
My only criticism, like others have mentioned, is that it should probably have been a 2-hr movie. There could have been more character development and background. I'd have liked to have seen more of midworld. Maybe there'll be an extended edition on DVD.
