Review of The Dark Tower (2017) by Lucas B — 18 Sep 2017
The opening line of The Gunslinger may just be my favorite opening line of any novel. Unfortunately, the line is almost the best part of the movie as well, second only to McConaughey as The Man in Black. And no, Idris Alba does not even make top five things for me. Perhaps that's the fault of the writers or the director. I don't know, but read even the first book and it's pretty clear his portrayal doesn't do the gunslinger justice.
This adaptation ended up being a midly amusing, decent action flick; which is far from the rich fantasy world of the novels.
