Review of The Dark Tower (2017) by Orwell B — 10 Aug 2017
Forget the critics - The Dark Tower is an enjoyable bit of escapist entertainment with a basic good versus evil plot. Idris Elba continues to rise above the rest and Matthew McConaughey makes a decent devil. Based on the critics reviews, I went in with considerably lowered expectations and was pleasantly surprised that the movie was entertaining and, at times, thought-provoking. While it won't win any awards, it was a pleasant diversion from the craziness going on in the world today. Nice to see.
An old fashioned good versus evil story that.
Borrowed as much from the western genre as from sci-fi. You could spend a lot worse 90 minutes on.
