I read all of the books, and even though this film doesn't represent the books faithfully, it is entertaining. I don't understand the low ratings for this movie. My wife and kids didn't know anything about the books but enjoyed it.
It definitely could have been better but so could plenty of movies! Buy some popcorn and give it a chance.
