Review of The Dark Tower (2017) by Ash B — 02 Aug 2017
Weird, but not in a good way.
A muddled plot which relies heavily on coincidence and leaves much unexplained (yet explains a lot which doesn't need explaining) somehow is utterly predictable.
Acting is either wooden or overly hammed, sometimes from the same actor. It appears that nobody has any love for the source material.
Cinematography relies too heavily on slow motion, bullet time and bad CGI. Some of the New York scenes genuinely look like they've been shot on a 10 year old mobile phone.
The whole film is a set up for a sequel which, hopefully, will never be made.
