Do not understand why this film is being slammed. Are viewers now so spoiled by bloated budgets, 3D, and expensive effects that they can't appreciate great acting and a compelling story? I was on the edge of my seat.
Idris Elba was brilliant, as were the other actors. McConaughey was evil incarnate. I never read the books and had no trouble following the plot. Well done, Ron Howard. Dark, gritty and nonstop engaging.
