I don't even see how this can be the same story! You wouldn't cast Chris Pine for the part of Martin Luther King, Jr. because it just wouldn't make sense. Same here! The relationship between Roland and Detta was a HUGE part of the book series and so much of their relationship was defined by Roland being white and Detta being black.
How is that not important to the story anymore? I was excited when I heard they were making this into a movie. Now, I doubt that I will see it. I love Idris Elba! He is a great actor. I just don't see how he can fit this role.
