Review of The Dark Knight Rises (2012) by Andreas G — 29 Aug 2015
The Dark Knight was a great crime superhero movie, and now we get The Dark Knight Rises, and epic story and downfall, redemption, and order in society. After being in hiding for eight years after the crushing events in the end of The Dark Knight, Bruce Wayne once again takes on the cape and cowl to become the Batman when stories rise of an army brewing in the sewers beneath Gotham led by a masked madman known as Bane.
This movie showcases Batman's return, downfall at the hands of Bane, and return to save Gotham from total destruction. Bane is this super ripped terrorist who pushes Batman to his physical limits.
The Joker pushed Batman to his emotional limits and Bane pushes him to his physical limits. When Batman and Bane first meet, Bane full on brutalizes Batman with his bare hands. While Batman's fallen from being in hiding, Bane takes over Gotham City.
This really was awesome because it was the next step up from both Ra's Al Ghul's plan and The Joker's plan from the previous two movies. They both revolved around chaos in and the destruction of Gotham, and Bane combines those two ideas into one act in a very organized way.
Gotham falls apart in this movie and Bane basically becomes it's ruler and plans to end up destroying the city. But Batman must come back to stop him. This is where the movie gets really epic and grand.
The two figures on each side clash and full on war breaks out. There is a battle in the streets of Gotham. I love this movie. I don't think it was quite as good as The Dark Knight, but it definitely is an epic movie about redemption and the story of a hero rising back up to take on his greatest enemies.
The Dark Knight Rises is a great movie.
