Review of The Dark Knight Rises (2012) by Dylan H — 15 Mar 2015
A near perfect conclusion to the trilogy. Wraps up the story both inventively and beautifully. Rises is the strongest out of all three when it comes to nostalgia but the weakest when it comes to narrative, pacing and character development.
Outstanding performances from everyone, especially from Anne Hathaway. Bale shines as the caped crusader and gives a very heartfelt performance but doesn't have as much screen time as Batman. Hans Zimmer's score is sweeping and boasting but the loss of partner composer James Newton Howard is definitely noticeable.
It's still a worthy addition to the beloved Nolan trilogy even though it fails to capture the emotional factors of both its predecessors.
