Review of The Dark Knight Rises (2012) by Joel G — 24 Jan 2016
Bloated and ridiculous, The Dark Knight Rises end an excellent trilogy with a whimper. Showing signs of a rushed writing and disinterest on the part of its creators, this film is bolstered only by Hardy's Bane, who of course doesn't exactly deliver anything that The Joker didn't in The Dark Knight.
We have the hero trying to combat a nihilistic villain bent on destruction. We have a slow, boring, awkward, and ultimately rushed narrative that collapses on itself with about 45 minutes left when Nolan must've realized, "shoot, I have to actually finish this crap?".
