Review of The Dark Knight Rises (2012) by John Eric D — 02 Jun 2015

Ok, I would like to suggest to re-watch Batman Begins and The Dark Knight before watching this. Just to remove all doubts on the confusion of the film. Now to the 3rd part of the trilogy. I might say that this has that same Nolan type of execution in terms of his film making.

I watch all of his films and yet you knew that this one should be a nail biter from the part that Nolan is a "Suspense master". Now people argue, how come this is the most boring of all in The Dark Knight franchise.

I would probably say not boring at all, I mean, if you follow the whole story and listen carefully to the dialogues. The story is pretty much well written, but then this is weaker than I thought. From the epic and very suspenseful prequel.

Then it came back from the story where The League of Shadows wants to have its revenge. Yeah, it has like the saddest parts where Bruce Wayne is broke, Alfred just leaves him because of his stubbornness and Bane imprisoned him and wants to use the Wayne Enterprises for his so called plans ( though I'm not going to spoil the latter part ).

Yeah, it is very well made, but it is not interesting IMO. Bane as a villain is a much more aggressive compared to Joker where Joker is much more clever and use different tactics. Thus Bane wants to finish and like turn everything to pieces as he wants Batman to suffer and see through all of these as the city of Gotham is on its knees.

It's like the end of Gotham compared to Joker's genius approach on how to convince everyone on his intentions. And that's why I think The Dark Knight has more depth, more dramatic and the dark elements of that film is just pure masterpiece.

This Dark Knight Rises is pretty watchable the fact it is obviously a well made Nolan film. Watching it on Blu-ray is amazing. Switching from the normal aspect ratio to the superb quality of the IMAX aspect ratio.

Batman will be the most beloved superhero we had for a very long time. As much as I want another Nolan's Batman in the future. I'm pretty sure nobody does it better than Nolan. Tremendous actors, but at some point, I see some familiar faces wanting to fit in for a Nolan film just to be recognized I guess.

Superbly recommended and a must watch. 4 out of 5 stars.
