Review of The Dark Knight Rises (2012) by Dee L — 27 Mar 2016
A bunch of good ideas and good performances that never quite manage to coalesce into a good film. For what is essentially a war film, the nearly constant violence is too ineptly shot to be impactful, either to horrify or to excite.
The climactic showdown between Batman and Bane is rich in character but filmed with all the prowess of a 1960's episode of Star Trek. The entire production seems distracted. What should have been the penultimate conclusion of a trilogy feels more like a grab-bag of ideas left on the cutting from floor from the previous two films, haphazardly sewn together in a Frankenstein's monster.
