Review of The Dark Knight (2008) by Jon S — 31 Aug 2015
This was both the superhero we deserved, as well as the superhero movie we needed. Nolan's dark masterpiece delivered on every level. Every time I re-watch this film, I am astounded at the level of brilliance and attention to detail and realism in the intricate plot, the three-dimensional characters, and - of course - Heath Ledger's Joker.
What a career-defining role. I still get chills during the interrogation scene between Bats and the Joker, his unflinching, manic laugh echoing off the stone walls. The tragedy of Ledger's untimely demise still ripples through Hollywood, but his mark on modern cinema will live on for generations to come! This is the ultimate Christopher Nolan film, the ultimate Batman film, and the ultimate superhero film.
And it's one of my favourite movies of all time.
