Review of The Dark Knight (2008) by Trekker 4 — 25 Feb 2016
My all time favorite would surprisingly be the Dark Knight.
Seeing this back in theaters in 2008 I took as just another new superhero film with my favorite comic book characters, what I got was surprisingly different. I love how Warner Bros. tends to retell a new and different and much darker and grittier tale of the Batman by bringing things to the next level.
This film is mostly interpreted as kind of a greek mythological tale of the battles of good and evil for control of a society at war with itself and the superheroes are portrayed as not always dependable but must remain faithful that they never give up and Batman represents how much he will risk to keep Gotham from being destroyed even when has to make the toughest choices.
The anarchist genocidal mastermind Joker played in a chilling performance by the late Heath Ledger is one of the most chilling performances I've ever seen and is so compelling he embodies the spirit of chaos with his famous interrogation scene which frightens us so much that even The Batman has to play his game which causes his image to be demoralized as part of a plan to destroy law, justice and order within Gotham society, and makes him destined and bound to cross the path from hero to antihero.
The final climax of this genuine superhero masterpiece is very symbolic as Batman fully embrace who he needs to be next to keep Gotham in balance from being destroyed from the inside of "pure madness". though not to further spoil this film I'm just seeing this film is remarkable and not to be missed once, and a testament of true genius in storytelling.
