Review of The Dark Knight (2008) by Thomas S — 12 Feb 2017
Pure perfection in every sense of the word. Every single thing that went into this movie was done perfectly, and not only that, but went far above and beyond any reasonable expectations. Heath Ledger's performance obviously stands out, but all the acting was fantastic, the score one of the most memorable, the cinematography amazing, the writing incredible, the action exciting, even the sound design stands out. Every moment of this movie keeps me glued to my chair. Every scene of the Joker causing the hairs on the back of my neck to rise. While the Joker is obviously everybody's main focus, and well deserved at that, as easily being the best performance of a villain in a superhero movie, and the most memorable, the movie also does a fantastic job with the transformation of Harvey Dent. Even the use of imax in the key action scenes (which remains present on the Blu-ray) elevates the movie to a higher standard. Simply put, this is the best superhero movie ever made, and I just don't see that ever changing.
Personal Grade: S++.
Technical Score: 100%.
