A transcendent superhero movie and decent crime thriller, The Dark Knight is not perfect but is often impressive in its ambitious craftsmanship and in the way its story is intelligently told with a heavy focus on its characters and a complex narrative-yet not always coherent.
Still, what is the most outstanding is Heath Ledger's monumental performance as the Joker.
