Review of The Dark Crystal (1982) by Charles D — 04 Sep 2009
I remeber the first time I saw this movie... I was about five or six years old and my mom brought it home and said, "Look, its a movie about a crystal!" Of course I got excited, "That's my name!" Little did I know how much this movie would affect me.
This movie is absolutely unique, completely and wonderfully creative, and just amazing. This was the first movie that ever made me cry. Not out of sadness, but happiness. When the Skeksis and the Mystics reunite from the healing of the Crystal, I was overwhelmed by the beauty and magnitude.
I am amazed by how popular this film has become just over the last few years. It seems that it was very hidden and underground for a long time, but now, it has come out again as if it were newly released.
I am glad for its recent praise, and that more people are beginning to see the greatness within this film. I will always love this movie and I will continue to enjoy sharing it with friends and family.
