Review of The Dark Crystal (1982) by Carlotta 4 — 03 Nov 2012
Every environment is hand made--the tangibility and pure, raw, grittiness of the whole film makes me wish CGI had never been invented sometimes... there's not much comparison between something that looks entirely real because it IS real.
I thought it a bit creepy when I saw the movie as a child, but having rewatched it now I realized how remarkably WONDERFUL it was. The richness of the world and the characters that inhabit it is so enjoyable that this movie very easily qualifies as one of my favorite films.
But it is a bit dark (the title does warn you), so take don't be fooled by the puppets--this isn't a kids movie.
