Review of The Darjeeling Limited (2007) by Muhammad K — 02 Sep 2012
This is a cross between "Tenenbaums and Life Aquatic" in terms of style. Say what you will about Owen Wilson, he works well in Wes Anderson movies I guess because they have worked so closely together as writers, it'd stand to reason.
This is about three estranged and dysfunctional brothers on a train trip in India a year after the death of their father. The irony is that they are trying to create an experience and don't recognize the real one they are living.
I like how Wes Anderson has a different eye than most modern directors it's almost child like. This story won't change your life but it's such a neat movie to watch thoughtful and fun, kinda like watching a cartoon.
All that said Wes Anderson movies aren't for everyone and the pace and story may be boring for some.
