Review of The Darjeeling Limited (2007) by Tim G — 27 Aug 2010
Three brothers embark on a spiritual journey in India after their father's death. This is very much a Wes Anderson movie: non-traditional story momentum, high visual appeal and kooky soundtrack. (Is yellow Wes Anderson's favourite colour?) There's little merit in this film - the characters are too off-beat to connect to them emotionally, so as a result the heart of the film is kept out of arm's reach.
The best part of the film is the section after they get booted off the train, but then it struggles to get back on track for the ending. For fans only.
