Review of The Darjeeling Limited (2007) by Ryan G — 11 Sep 2010
The beautiful thing about art, is that it allows us to see our reality through a new lens. We adapt the themes and motifs to our own life, and suddenly believe this is one of the great movies of all time.
Whilst I have many friends who love this movie, I simply did on connect to it on the same level. The themes of soul searching, spirital journeys and family connection were much more powerful for me in the Namesake. This isn't right or wrong, its simply one individual perception of the film.
I do give credit to the cinematography, which has a gritty sense of authenticity. In the final analysis though, you must see it for yourself to determine if you have that same deep connection that some do.
